Psalm 29:1. A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 2. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. 3. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. 4. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5. The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. 6. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. 7. The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. 8. The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9. The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. 10. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. 11. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
As we read the many Psalms, we can learn to see many lessons of life in the pictorial verses. Most of us know the 23rd Psalm; but do we realize the lessons we can learn even in it. My favorite is the first part of verse 5; “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:”. I learned that in my worst trials, God would speak words to my heart that let me taste HIS suffering, comfort, patience, jealousies and even burdens (a feast). It was joy in the midst of sorrow (1Pet.1:8) and the peace that passes understanding (Php 4:7). My desire (His grace) to know God intimately was what gave me the power to ask HIM to prune me. He taught me that I could never be committed to HIM because I died (Col.3:3,4); but HE revealed HIS Son in me and revealed to me that HE was totally committed to me. I am continually learning in all pain, to submit to God, for HE controls everything. I saw Psalm 29 as one of those testimonies of my own life that I made into a poem:
Little by little GOD continually cleanses us as we learn to receive HIS grace that transforms us in every pain.
Psalm 138:2 - I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Psalm 40 - . . .3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. . . .6-10 . . .7. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, . . . . . . . (The “I” in verses 6-10 is Christ in me doing HIS will when I submit all to GOD . . vs.17- But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God..)
